Thesis worker, Business Control Support, Fazer Confectionery Operations

We are looking for a Thesis Worker, Business Control Support, Fazer Confectionery Operations to conduct a master's thesis for Fazer Confectionery while supporting the Confectionery Operations Business Control team in a variety of controlling activities, with particular focus to product costing. This is a full-time, fixed-term position ending on 31 August 2027.

Approximately 60% of the role will be dedicated to thesis work, with the remaining time focused on supporting the Confectionery Operations Business Control team, particularly in the area of product costing process and tasks related to product costing.

The topic of your thesis will focus on product costing and may cover topics such as product costing principles, product segmentation and differentiated costing approaches, emerging product costing methodologies and their applicability in manufacturing, the use of machine learning and AI in product costing, or product costing process development and automation. The final thesis topic will be defined jointly with the selected candidate, taking into consideration their interests, competencies, and experience, as well as the potential value for Fazer.

As part of the Operations Business Control team, you will primarily support product costing activities, providing practical experience and business insights that will directly support your thesis work. This combination of academic research and hands-on business involvement offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of future product costing practices in a leading FMCG manufacturing environment.

You will report to the Director, Business Control, Operations. The position is located in Vaarala, Vantaa, and we primarily work onsite.

The role in question is a salaried position under the collective agreement for salaried employees in the food industry. The base salary of this position is between 2400 € - 2800 € / month depending on the knowledge and professional experience of the selected candidate. What will you bring to the team?

You are comfortable working with numbers, Excel, and business systems, and you have a keen eye for identifying inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement. You are curious, and able to draw meaningful insights from data.

You approach situations with professionalism, and respect, while also being able to challenge and influence others when needed. You remain solution-oriented even when faced with changing circumstances. You are self-driven and capable of navigating challenges independently. You are currently pursuing M.Sc. studies in industrial engineering, business, accounting, finance or similar. Experience in business controlling is considered beneficial. You communicate fluently in Finnish and English. You have already obtained solid skills with Excel and other MS Office tools. Knowledge of Power BI and SAP ERP is considered beneficial. We also value a genuine interest in FMCG business.
